It is held to be disloyal to raise this topic, but there are circumstances under which another field is preferable to rising malpractice premiums payable only in advance, rising regulation, delayed payment, loss of autonomy, and either corporate or government control of what is inevitablly a rather personal undertaking. Bad-faith peer review is not going to help increase enthusiasm for this field. Although no one wants to go to the doctor; we are all patients.
