     You can lose your credibility only once.  When you testify, take no money, because you cannot be bought...you are 'priceless.' 
 
     Some doctors choose to make impartial peer review a professional responsiblity, and to pay for it themselves to be independent of hospital money and politics. Some will choose to select cases at random in order to treat everyone impartially, and to prevent problems by looking at the entire system of care. 
     There is a book about the airlines, It Doesn't Matter Where You Sit.  Similarly, bad-faith peer review can happen to anyone.
